My Faith

I am a Christian, which means I believe in God, I pray, I read the Bible, and I go to church. I don't hold to any particular denomination as a Christian, although I tend towards more lively churches with an evangelistic outlook. I am currently a member of Hopehall Evangelical Church in Paisley.

I was brought up in a Christian family, going to church every week. I fell away from church during my high school years, but got strongly involved again while at University.

Why?

What does it mean for me personally to be a Christian? That's hard to explain in just a few words, but most of all, it's about how awesome God is!

From the very small...
Look around you, and try to imagine the complexity in the existence of a single grain of sand or speck of dust: multitudes of atoms and molecules, which themselves contain incredibly tiny particles of various types.

Now think of a molecule of water, and try to think of how many molecules there must be in a glass of water. And now think about the vastness of the ocean, with its waves and tides. And now imagine the amazing ecosystem the oceans supports beneath the surface.

To the very big...
Next, consider the size of your nearest city, or your country, and its place on the Earth. And consider that the majority of the Earth is covered in water, and how vast the earth is! And yet, compare that to the sun, which is hugely bigger than the earth. It's part of the Solar system, which is part of the Milky Way galaxy, which is part of a cluster of galaxies which is part of the massive Universe!

And the Divine...
That's something big to think about. And to me, the way it all works so gracefully together is a beautiful insight into the character of God.

The unknowable...
And finally, think of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle: we simply cannot know where a subatomic particle is, and where it is going, at the same time. And how many subatomic particles are in the Universe?

Now try telling me how much we really know or can influence around us.
